What Vitamin D3 means?
There are two forms of vitamin D: vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is a vitamin which is synthesized in the skin on sun exposure. Vitamin D2 is obtained only from the diet. Vitamin D3 is more readily absorbed and utilized by the human body(13).

How do I know I am missing Vitamin D?
Approximately one billion people worldwide are estimated to be vitamin D deficient (14). For a number of reasons, many people aren’t getting enough vitamin D, i.e. not getting enough sunlight. Certain groups of people may be at higher risk of lacking vitamin D: people who don't go outside very often – for example, those who live in care homes; people who cover most of their skin when outside; people with darker skins. This suggest that it is likely that many people are insufficient but if want to be sure, simple vitamin D blood tests are available.

Which are the physical signs of vitamin D insufficiency?
Signs like fatigue, altered mood and depression, insomnia, back pain, arthralgia (particularly of the wrists, ankles, and shoulders), proximal muscle weakness, headache, and hair loss (18; 19) are typical in case of Vitamin D insufficient level.

How much Vitamin D I need to take every day?
Guidance on the adequate dietary intake of vitamin D varies worldwide; ranging from 200 to 800 IU (5-20 µg) and the upper tolerable intake level is 4.000 IU (100 µg) (2). The Endocrine Society, one of the most influential medical organizations in the field of endocrinology and metabolism, recommends that obese patients, patients with malabsorption syndromes, and patients on medications affecting vitamin D metabolism, should get higher doses (3.000–6.000 IU/day = 75-150 µg) than those recommended for the general population (15).

When will I feel the benefits of taking MERITENE VITA D+?
The optimal time for rechecking the serum levels after initiating the supplementation has not been clearly defined, but it is advised to check the vitamin D blood levels after at least 8 weeks.

Does the product contains Calories? / Sugar?
MERITENE Vita D+ is sugar free and contains less than 1 kcal / recommended daily dose (3 sprays).

What is the difference between Vita D Spray and other Vitamin D supplement?
MERITENE Vita D+ spray uses a patented nano-emulsion technology for improved absorption and bioavailability. It is clinically proven to be significantly better than soft gelatin capsules at increasing vitamin D levels in healthy individuals and patients with malabsorption syndrome (17). Moreover, Vitamin sprays are more consumer-friendly compared with other formats available on the market such as tablets and capsules; sprays do not require swallowing and are a convenient alternative for individuals with difficulties swallowing, no unpleasant odor or taste, and no need to carry water for use.

Is it suitable for vegetarians?
Yes. MERITENE Vita D+ Spray is suitable for vegetarians and it is approved by European Vegetarian Union. MERITENE Vita D+ Spray is obtained from sheep’s lanolin, a waxy substance present in sheep’s skin. There is no Lanolin within the product but the process of extracting the D3 from the wool makes this product not suitable for a vegan diet.
